Seeking Peace Amid Global Turmoil

Sara López

There's so much weighing heavily on my heart these days. With the escalating violence in so many parts of the world, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed. I wake up thinking about those families caught in conflict zones, especially the children. Can you imagine? No safe spaces, not knowing where the next meal is coming from, or if their loved ones will return home. I find myself praying for peace, for tangible resolution, but sometimes it feels like my words are falling flat against the reality of their pain. Then there’s the ongoing persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters. Stories from places like Nigeria and North Korea chill me. I think about what their daily lives must be like, living in fear just for their faith. This morning I read about a new group being targeted. It breaks my heart, and I want to do more than offer an armchair prayer. It's so frustrating. As natural disasters continue to ravage parts of the world, like those that hit Hawaii and Gaza this summer, it feels relentless. Displaced people needing shelter, food, and basic necessities—these overwhelming needs feel so far removed from my comfortable life. I know it's a lot to carry, but can we come together in prayer for them, for the wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and the people affected? I believe in the power of collective prayer and know that every bit counts.
