Seeking Peace in Troubling Times

Margarita Pérez

Lately, it feels like every headline we see is grim. I find it hard to process the suffering worldwide—an unending cycle of war, disasters, and persecution tearing apart communities. Just last week, I saw a report about ongoing violence in Myanmar, displacing families and leaving children even more vulnerable. There’s a part of me that feels so small amidst it all, wondering what I can do to help. I’ve been praying for wisdom, not just for those in power but for everyday individuals who are fighting for peace. It's incredibly overwhelming. I know that there are believers in war-torn regions who face real danger for their faith, and my heart aches for them. I really want to support them through prayer, but I also feel a nudge to do something more tangible. I’m specifically thinking of the upcoming fundraiser for refugees next month—please pray that our local community will open their hearts and, if possible, their wallets. I trust in the strength of our shared prayers, but I also need God's peace in my heart as I navigate these heavy thoughts. Life feels so unpredictable—between climate concerns due to disasters in various regions and the growing divide in our own communities. I'm hoping for more awareness and advocacy. Let's uplift one another and seek a world where justice and peace prevail.
